How do I change a service address?

A service address is an official contact address used by limited company directors, company secretaries, subscribers, People with Significant Control (PSCs), and LLP members. Companies House, HMRC, and other government agencies send statutory mail to these individuals at their nominated service address. Below, we explain how to change a service address after company formation.

Change a director’s service address

You can change a service address at any point after company formation using one of the following Companies House forms:

• form CH01 – for natural (human) directors
• form CH02 – for corporate directors
• form CH03 – for company secretaries
• form PSCO4 – for PSCs
• form LL CH01 – for LLP members

You must inform Companies House within 14 days of doing so. This can be done in one of three ways:

• via the online Admin Portal of a company formation agent (including Rapid Formations)
• online using Companies House WebFiling service
• by post to Companies House

Choosing a director’s service address

Unlike a registered office, a service address can be situated anywhere in the world. This means that there is no need to live in the country where your company is incorporated.

You may also use your registered office or home address as a service address. However, lots of people choose a commercial (non-residential) address because they want to protect the privacy of their home.

The most common choice for those who require a service address is a professional service address facility provided by another company. This type of service is widely available and usually very affordable.

Any correspondence received at the professional service address will then be scanned and forwarded by email or posted to the individual at their home or other nominated address.
