What is the PSC Filing Service?

The People with Significant Control (PSC) Filing Service takes care of your Companies House filings on your behalf. Whether you need to notify Companies House of a new PSC, record a change in their details, or confirm that someone is no longer a PSC, our team will handle the paperwork from start to finish.

The cost of this service is £29.99 +VAT per filing.

What is a person with significant control?

A person with significant control is an individual who exercises significant influence or control over a company – namely, someone who owns more than 25% of the shares or voting rights, has the right to appoint or remove the majority of the board, or otherwise has a significant say in how the company is run.

Every UK limited company is legally required to identify its PSCs and keep their details up to date on the Companies House public register. Any change must be reported within 28 days of it taking place.

How the service works:

  • Select Buy Now to log in or create an account, then complete your purchase.
  • We'll email you to collect the details we need about your PSC change.
  • Once we have everything, we'll prepare a schedule of filings and send it to you for approval.
  • After you have approved, we'll submit the filing to Companies House on your behalf.
  • We'll confirm by email once Companies House has processed the PSC filing.

Frequently asked questions

  • The following is included:

    • Preparation of the relevant PSC filing(s)
    • A schedule of filings sent to you for approval before submission
    • Submission to Companies House
    • Email confirmation once processed
  • We can file the following with Companies House:

    • Add a new PSC
    • Remove a PSC (a person no longer meeting the conditions)
    • Change a PSC’s details
    • Notification that the company has no PSCs
  • The clock starts from the date the change takes place – you have 28 days to report it to Companies House. This applies whether someone has newly become a PSC, an existing PSC has dropped below the relevant threshold, or a PSC's personal details have changed.

  • Each PSC will need to supply their full name, date of birth, nationality, country of residence, service address, home address, and the date they became a PSC, along with the PSC conditions they meet.

Your the day element of your date of birth won’t be made publicly available. Your home address will also not appear on the public record, unless you report your home address as the service address as well.

  • Two pieces of information are kept off the public register:

    • Your home address
    • The day element of your date of birth (only your month and year will be shown)

Everything else is published online, including your name, nationality, country of residence, service address, and the nature of your control over the company.

  • Yes. Any individual newly registered as a PSC is required to verify their identity with Companies House. This is done through GOV.UK One Login. Once complete, the PSC will receive a personal code, which must then be sent to Companies House, either as part of the PSC filing, or separately within 14 days of being added.

  • You'll need to put it right promptly. Inaccurate PSC records are visible to anyone searching the Companies House register, including banks and potential business partners, and errors can cause problems for the company. There are also legal obligations around keeping this information current.

  • Yes. The service is priced at £29.99 +VAT per filing. If you have a few changes to report, just purchase the service for each one and we'll take care of them all for you.

  • Not anymore. The requirement for companies to maintain their own internal PSC register was removed in 2025, so you no longer need to keep one at your registered office. What hasn't changed is the obligation to identify who your PSCs are and make sure their details are accurate and current on the Companies House register.

  • Unfortunately, this falls outside the scope of the service. Identifying your PSCs requires a review of your company's ownership and control structure, and we'd recommend seeking professional advice if things are complex. That said, we're happy to offer some general guidance, and once you know what needs to be filed, we'll handle the rest.

  • Not quite. It’s a common question, but only individuals can be registered as PSCs. However, if your company is owned or controlled by another UK company (or another one that meets the Regulations’ requirements), that company may qualify as a Relevant Legal Entity (RLE), which can then be recorded on your PSC filing instead.

The practical benefit is that you only need to report the company directly above you in the ownership chain, rather than looking through it to find the individuals behind it.

From start to finish, Rapid Formations website was a breeze. It is easy to understand, and it has a good help section for those who need advice.
